I WON’T LIE TO YOU… LIFE ISN’T EVER “PERFECT”
It’s evolving, forever changing like the tides. But, it can be perfect for right now!
Before I had a plan, before making moves, before seeing my dream life slowly come into fruition – there was a typical Mum Living the #mumlife cliche of no sleep, surviving off fumes and finding myself further and further down the list. Not satisfied with that way of living, but dreading the thought of returning to the workaholic-fit-into-society alternative, I had to change something.
FITTING THE ROLE
I didn’t always have it figured out. Before becoming a Mum, I was fitting my role as a “good girl” in society. Ticking the boxes:
Graduating from University with a Postgraduate in Education
Travelling the world
Securing a job teaching and gaining promotions quickly
Working my week away living in a bubble of high pressure, stress and little down time.
It was work hard, play hard… and that was deemed successful
SOMETHING IN ME YEARNED FOR A CHANGE… BUT I COULDN’T PUT MY FINGER ON WHAT…
BECOMING A MUM
Then I had my daughter, and slowly pieces started to fall into place. My eyes opened at what my life was like. I became jaded of the system I was in. How did it serve us as a family – to work to survive? How did it serve my daughter? Is this what I wanted for her life? After ongoing health issues with my girl, we received a diagnosis for her. And my world was flipped upside down.
THE FIRST YEARS WERE HARD
We spent over a year bouncing from doctors to doctor, trying to help our daughter. I had another baby. I didn’t sleep. I didn’t eat. I was burnt out. But I had to keep going. As we received more answers for her, we started to make changes to our life. The way we ate. The things we spent our money on. The time we spent with people. We lost A LOT of friends in the process. We learnt very clearly what our values were. And realised, that the life we had was in complete contradiction to our values.
SOMETHING HAD TO CHANGE
The more disconnected our life and values were, the angrier I got. I felt rage. I felt extreme sadness. I felt suffocated and stuck. I asked for help and didn’t get it. And realised, I had to help myself. So I did. Working with an inner child healer, I did soul therapy. Reading every book I could get my hand on, I learnt about co-dependency, emotionally immature people, how our brain works, mindset and manifestation. Then I found life coaching. And it fit. Perfectly.
So here we are today. My values are clear. I have a plan in place. We are heading towards our true life – and while it’s a lesson in patience (SO HARD!), we are moving in the right direction and that is what matters.
By creating space we can help you to rediscover the true you – as a person, a parent, a partner and more.
